With help from our contact Mentor Works, we provide the details of the grant below:

Grant Amount:
• Large Businesses with >100+ Employees: Up to 50% to a maximum $6,000 per trainee.
• Small Businesses (<100 Employees): Up to 83% to a maximum $6,000 per trainee.
• Small Businesses w/ New Hires: Up to 100% to a maximum $10,000 per trainee.

Eligibility:
• Ontario businesses conducting training in Ontario, must have WSIB (or equivalent) and $2M in third party liability insurance.
• Training participants must be on payroll (no contractors or temporaries), be residents of Ontario, be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents, and cannot have ownership in the applicant business.

Eligible Projects:
• Training projects must include <25 trainees to be eligible.
• Training topics can include, but are not limited to, business/leadership/marketing, ERP, equipment, or technical training.
• Training can be offered by a 3rd party private training company, a post-secondary institution, or private career college.
• Trainer does not need to be based out of Ontario, but it needs to be a Canadian vendor.
• Ideally, a new or recent (last 3 weeks) hire(s) will participate in the training.

Eligible Expenses:
• 3rd party trainer expenses,
• textbooks, materials,
• tuition, student fees, and examination fees.

Timelines:
• Training cannot start until the grant application is approved.
• Grant approval takes approximately 4-5 weeks from date of application submission.
• Training must be completed by March 31, 2024, with proof of completion (i.e., certification, diploma).
